Asian Americans, making up 7% of the US population, are an extremely young population with a high earning potential. With a median age of 34, they are Gen Z, and 22.4M in total. Nearly 45% live in the West, with 30% living in CA alone. They are diverse, with 6 origin groups makeup 85% of the population, and 57% were born in another country. Asian American consumers have a median HH income of $85,800, and 27% live in multigenerational HHs. 72% speak English proficiently, and 54% have a college degree +. In terms of their consumer behavior, they have a purchasing power projected to reach $1.6T in 2024. They outspend on Large Departments such as FMCG ex fuel, Alcohol, Baby Care, Floral, Food, General Merchandise, Health & Beauty Care, and Household Care. They are highly influential, with 87% making a purchase online, 97% owning a smartphone, and 99% having internet access at home. Their cultural attributes are rootedness, adventurousness, exceptionalism, anxiety, independence, and compliance. These attributes are key to connecting with Asian American consumers.
