4、dren achieved expected communication,language and literacy (CLL)levels at the end of Reception,a slight increase from last years 69.2%.However,3 in 10 children(30.1%)did not reach these expected levels,rising to almost 1 in 2(47.5%)among children eligible for free school meals(FSM).While overall att

5、ai nment has inched upward,fewer children eligible for FSM met expected CLL standards compared with the previous year.This widened the gap between FSM and non-FSM children to 21.4 percentage points,the largest difference in four years.At the same time,recent UK-based longitudinal research found dram

6、atic differences in reported daily reading among parents of 2-year-olds based on income,with 77%of those from the highest-income quartile reading with their child daily compared with 32%of parents from the lowest income quartile4.These inequalities underscore the importance of strengthening support
