、MARCH2026Trends in Oncology Biomarker Testing in the U.S.Advancing Precision OncologyOver the last two decades, advances in cellular and molecular understanding of cancer have significantly accelerated, leading to better characterization of tumor biology. This has paved the way for a transition towards
、 increasing use of targeted therapeutics in oncology.Predictive biomarkers enable the use of these therapies. However, gaps remain in achieving optimal biomarker testing across tumor types, potentially resulting in eligible patients not receiving timely treatment.Prior IQVIA Institute research publishe
、d in 2020 identified major barriers that limit biomarker testing for solid tumors in the U.S.The research assessed biomarker testing evolution over time and offered solutions to help reduce the identified testing barriers in oncology. The purpose of this report is to understand how the biomarker test
、ing landscape has changed since that publication. In addition to NSCLC which was the primary tumor of focus for the 2020 report testing rates in breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers are included.Insights obtained from oncologists treating these cancers, pathologists, and lab directors are also discussed
、.While data on DLBCL biomarker testing rates are not included due to limited predictive biomarkers, perspectives from interviewed stakeholders are used to understand current testing practices and perceived barriers to adoption in that hematological malignancy. The research also assesses several inflec
、tion points that appear to trigger successful integration of a biomarker in cancer clinical care and identifies persistent barriers to biomarker testing. The report concludes with actions that stakeholders such as physicians, laboratory directors, and hospital systems can potentially utilize to ensure
