为降低信号传输损耗和延迟,高频高速覆铜板对基材介质材料的 Dk、Df 值的要求更高。介电常数(Dk)是电极间充以物质时的电容与同样构造的真空电容器的电容之比,表示材料储存电能能力的大小。Dk 小时,储存能力小,充、放电过程快,从而使传输速度亦快。因此在高频传输中,要求介电常数低。介电损耗是指介质在交变电场的作用下将一部分电能转变成热能损耗的现象,介质损耗因子(Df)越高,电能损耗或信号损失越多,是绝缘材料损失信号能力的表征物理量。 覆铜板的介电性能在很大程度上影响信号的传输速度和传输效率,介电常数和介质损耗因数与不同频率下的传输损耗成正比。
